What This Blog is All About
December 17, 2006
A visitor to www.drleons.com just sent an email
questioning the morality of lying to children about Santa
Claus. That is a topic on which I’ve had strong feelings for
years. The answer will appear here later in the week.
Another visitor wrote in to ask if the purpose of my blog is
to bash Rush Limbaugh. To that writer I answer with an
emphatic NO. I don’t go out of my way to bash Rush, but I
sometimes feel obligated to bash morons. The mere fact that
Rush exemplifies the archetype “moron,” pretty much
guarantees he will appear now and then in my commentaries.
Yet another visitor asked if I really have a daughter or
just made her up for purposes of my commentary. (Well, he
actually asked, “If you really do have a daughter, how can
she stand to live with you?”) He neglected to mention what
set him off.
Yes, I really do have a daughter. Together we manage a book
publishing business and co-author several sites on the
Internet. We both have degrees in psychology and share many
of the same attitudes on life and society. That is not to
say she agrees with me on everything. We do have the
occasional debate (on an intellectual level, of course).
A few visitors wanted to know what this blog is all about. I
suppose they feel compelled to assign me in some category.
Sorry ladies and gentlemen, I decline to be categorized.
My blog is about life in general. It might be my life,
someone else’s life, movies, music, psychology or even those
topics you were advised by your parents to avoid in
conversations with friends; like politics, religion or sex.
In all that I write, I promise my visitors consistency,
honesty, reality and even sometimes warmth; tempered with a
modicum of sarcasm, occasional wit and above all sincerity.
There are positive aspects of life; negative aspects of life
and those things somewhere in the middle. You’ll probably
find me delving through that middle ground most of the time,
with occasional forays into the extremes on both ends.
Thank you for spending a few of your precious moments
reading my words. I sincerely hope you tune in every now and
then for my take on... everything.
