Rush Limbaugh – Still Oblivious in the Real World
November 19, 2006
During a recent trip, my daughter tuned in to Rush
Limbaugh on the car radio. Can I help it if she enjoys
comedy? I haven’t listened to Rush in years. There are
always more important demands on my time.
This broadcast was vintage Limbaugh. On mid-term election
day 2006, Rush droned his staunch
defense of the war in Iraq and lectured on the inevitable
victory of Republicans in the Senate. This was the day
a vast number of our nation’s Republicans switched
party allegiance and voted against the incumbent Republican
administration to protest a ludicrous policy of “staying the course”
or “winning” in Iraq.
Since
Limbaugh claims such strong support for Americans dying in a
foreign country for nothing, I suddenly wondered why he
doesn’t personally demonstrate his support in a more
dramatic manner; by moving to Baghdad and broadcasting live from a
radio station there (for at least a year).
The misguided war effort could benefit three-fold from
Rush’s relocation. He would be closer to the troops for
supports, he might actually learn the truth for a change, but best of all, given enough time
he would undoubtedly talk all the terrorists to death so our
troops could return home to their loved ones and families.
Time for you to retire Rush. Even my daughter doesn’t think
you are funny or entertaining any more and definitely not
informative. You are just a
broken vinyl record that should have been recycled years ago.
